I agree the states are disunited at this period. I'm seeing no-holds-barred tactics from both sides. The independents will decide this election, and many of them are waiting for the debates.

I thought I read that 93% of blacks are supporting Obama. That amazes me as this seems to be in part about race rather than policies.

Really, really bad move on the part of Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss. Racial and gender slurs rebound catastrophically on the party tolerating such nonsense.

This kind of meanness is self-destructive. Mc Cain did not pull ahead until the attacks on Sarah Palin's gender, lifestyle, etc. surfaced. Similar attacks on Obama could reverse the current trend in the polls.

Disagreement with someone's actual policies and intentions can be used to make a point and may actually persuade voters.

Slander and false accusations by partisan attack dogs will drive undecided voters and even party faithful away. Who wants to vote for a party that supports that kind of campaign?

There are rabid supporters of both parties. Success at the polls may depend on wiser members of each party stifling or repudiating these radical elements.
