Panoramas, Anybody?
Anybody know of a FREE (or inexpensive) digital PANORAMA program for stitching images together? I don' t need this often, but when I do, it'd be nice to have a reliable piece of software to do it. Thot I'd ask. I trialed Photoshop CS which has a "stitching" ability. Got good results on one image from the parkway, but crummy outcome on several others. Maybe it's my images....don't overlap enough; exposure varies from one image to the next so can't register for color and shade. Any experience with D70's and panoramas?
And let me just piggyback this trivial question: What ta heck is Blogshares and why should I care? Here's the stats for Fragments. Does this have any significance to anybody in the world? What's the point, pray tell?

Gees...in my online travels I came across a photographer's site that had a great panorama "howto"...it's all in the camera setup.
Since that was a couple computers ago, I don't have the link, I seem to recall he did the Pt. Reyes lighthouse panorama.

Blogshares is a game - people buy "shares" in blogs , then trade them like stocks. I think they are trying to correlate the share prices to real popularity - using the game as a proxy for traffic stats, influence, etc. It's kind of a nifty idea.
However, as an ethical CEO of ODonnellWeb, I'm trying to build long term value and not get caught up in the day to day fluctuations of my stock price :)
Actually - I've never looked. Not even sure if ODonnellWeb is listed on the exchange.

Here's one:

Interface for the Free "Panorama Tools"
cost 39 euro
30 day trial
I just tried it, seems to work pretty well.

I've had mixed results with the photomerge feature of CS. It's important to use a tripod when panning the camera to keep everything level as possible. Also lock the exposure in if you're in a priority mode so it won't change from pic to pic. Even then, when using a wide angle lens the barrel distortion will cause the pics not to line up properly for merging. There's an option over there on the right of the dialog to compensate for this behavior. Then you have to do some cropping. It ain't easy to do in CS and takes practice. The "automerge" name implies everything is done for you, which ain't the case.

Hi
Firstly, congrats on the teaching job.
Secondly, I came across this software and remembered this post, so here goes:
http://esd.element5.com/product.html?cart=1&productid=514851&languageid=1&affiliateid=71658¤cies=GBP
Free demo version available.
Also picked up a copy of Digital Camera Magazine with a full-featured panorama program on the cover disk (Realviz Stitcher 3.1). If you recall, I'm over in England, so I don't know if you get the same magazines as we do, but if you are interested, let me know.
