Ya Wanna Piece o' Me?

Something a wise photographer does not do is put the camera down at Tsuga-eye-level. This point of view is an open invitation for attack. A split second after the shutter closed on the image above, he was on me like ugly on a frog. You can see it in his eyes. He is bad to the bone.
Of course, it's my fault he was worked into a frenzy. Who can resist a running fit when given a pop bottle full of water! You bite a hole in it with sharp puppy teeth (top ones are now rounder adult replacements! yippee!) and it squirts water in your face every time you grab it. This makes you run wildly. Throw it in the air and it explodes in geysers when it hits the ground. Man we know how to have a good time!
He's getting his adult markings now in his fifth month. He was almost entirely off-white when we brought him home at seven weeks. Now, the back of his hind legs, the tip of his tail and ears and center of his back is turning "brown-paper-bag", the color of barley, of my morning coffee with cream. Over his shoulder-blades he wears epaulets of his original color-- odd markings he inherited from his mother.

A certain someone I know when through very similar color changes. I never thought of the pop bottle idea. Even at 12, water anywhere will send her into a joyful frenzy.

Dogs - you gotta love them!:) Amazing what will keep a dog amused. Mine barked for 2 days at a new full-length mirror leaning up against the wall, and kept trying to get behind it to the "other dog". (Dare I betray my ignorance to ask what breed he is? His coloring is marvellous - except I suspect on muddy days)

Haw! Harley loves this game too...after the water is gone he follows you around squeezing the flattened carcass making crackling canine music and bopping it on everything to test the different sounds...so far the coffee table, a steel frame and slate top model, seems to be the most harmonic. *G*
Harley's newest trick is to throw his stuffed Kongs down the stairs after he licks the peanut butter out dislodging the dog cookie treats wedged inside.

Thanks so much for the Tsuga photo! I loved it! The epaulets you mention are common markings of the yellow Lab. They're quite distinguished looking, don't you think?

That Look made me laugh out loud before I read a word! Thanks for getting the drop on him--for a split second, anyway.

Loved the photo. It reminded me of toddler grandchildren caught doing something they know is naughty.
And like my grandchildren, Tsuga is growing up so quickly.

A look that speaks volumes... thanks for sharing. So... you been fertilizing him or what - that's a big, personable "pup" you got there.
