Blog Battered But Not Broken

At least not permanently broken, thanks to a little help from my friends.

Seems some odd abberation in Moveable Type made it hark up a hairball last week when I posted an image it suddenly thought was to big to swallow, and I was flooded with reports (well, in my low-volume world, a half-dozen reports is a flood) that my right column had disappeared or other forms of weirdness were happening. I begged for help. I am not a proud man.

Immeasurable thanks goes to Fragments Techno-consultant and Kemosabe, Jeremiah, who seems to have found a way to keep the problem from happening again across all browsers tested. We think.

If you would be so kind, please click over to the temporary experimental page here, and tell me (well, tell me and I'll go crying to Jeremiah. I am capable of doing nothing more than lip biting and hand wringing) if the page displays properly. Try resizing your browser, changing font size, etc to see if you can make it unhappy. We're hoping not. Please email or comment re this ASAP. I'm going to assume things are good to go if I don't hear any screams of horror from the Fragments Few. Thanks, y'all.

Both work fine for me.

It runs off the right side of the page a bit, if that's what you're interested in.

It works in my Mozilla browser.

Both work in Safari!

I'm with Trey. My screen is too small and I have to scroll over. But the right side is back. Please PLEASE put the title back into tan?

Looks good in Mozilla on Win 2000.

here's a copy with the layout fixed, but with the tan type in the header: Test 2

This will allow the page to go a little smaller, so maybe it will look better for Trey and Trish.

Well test2 didn't work for me - LH graphic above text rather than next to it, but hte other one works finr (Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1 and W2000)

Works fine in Mozilla and IE for me too.

Looks fine here, on IE 6.0, resolution 1024x768, any type size.

And the top is much better - now there are no white gaps between the photos and the title at full screen (the green background fills in).

I also cannot see the full page without scrolling over. I'm using XP and IE 6.0. Changing the font size makes no difference.

I suppose I should have said that the full page problem only exists in your experimental set up.
Right now, when I came to Fragments, everything was just great.

I had no idea there were so many people using smaller than 1024x768 resolution..

One last test: Test 3

Posted by: Jeremiah at December 3, 2003 06:24 PM

On IE 6.0, 1024x768, at any text size, this is fine - except now I see that white space again between the photo of Tsuga and the title type. The white space is there no matter if it's stretched full width, or narrow.
