Lost in Space

image copyright Fred First
Wandering early without purpose the light lured me into wet pasture, light glancing over the ridge, beading the cleft of valley with diamonds

On the peninsula edged by creeks
that flow together at its tip,
looking up from jeweled grass before my face
a perfect fingerprint, a spider's concentric order, suspended

Its center drew me in-- a portal web
that opens into other times, a wormhole where
Winter waits and I will go

Absolutely beautiful...both the picture and the poem. Thanks for sharing it.

Did you take the photogrpah? It's amazing. I have never been able to capture spider webs, although I have tried.

Made me gasp aloud--and aspirate a big chunk of granola. But it was worth it.

When I start feeling full of myself and clever, all that's needed to bring me back to reality is to look at a spider's creation. Phenomenal photograph.
