Garden Heros and Villains

Contrary to this too-cool too-wet gardening season, this time last year we had a lot of green tomatos hanging heavy on the bush. We also had quite a few of these creatures, and I was delighted-- not with the foliage munching caterpillars but with the little white appendages you see above. Yes, there is a certain schadenfreude in seeing tomato worms in such a state, knowing that their antagonists in the food chain are about to help you wreak your vengeance for despoiling your tomato crop. Ah, the sweet justice of Nature's own balance!
