Recess is Over

Discuss why the phrase "Appalachian Identity" is misleading, incorrect or at least problematic. Consider either emic or etic explanations or globalization concepts or both in your answer. Include a discussion of hegemony as well.

Joy! Only one question to go to finish my take-home mid-term. I'm finding that it's not so much fun to write when you must as when you may. And with my science background, I come at this senior level Humanities course like a carpenter trying to build a china cabinet out of two-by-fours and 10-penny nails. I don't have the jargon or sociological way of looking at things to fabricate answers I'm proud of. I have, however, met the bulk requirement so that, even if they're the wrong words, there are enough of them.

Spring break (ha! ha!) is over and I go back to class today. Whimper.

My spring break (ha!) is over too, and I find that I'm whimpering as well! Didn't complete even half of the gob-zillion things I was supposed to get done, and what with a back-to-back set of out-of-town trip readings that entail flying to San Francisco on Thursday, I find that I am hugely stressed! (Mumbling to self: Deep breaths. Deep breaths.)

Spring Break? Maybe for some of you out there, but for some of us that time of life has passed us by! :-) You have a wonderful site which, btw, I found via Anne over at Semi Compos Mentis.

Back when I had to write stuff like that, it came out either mimetic or emetic.

When the director yells "action", all i ever had to do was remember the words... not their meaning. No one here to explain many of your words to me... and i'm way too lazy for a dictionary. But i enjoy what you say none-the-less. And you're a good man Charlie Brown. Two wonderful things. It's like art... is it really so all-fired important that i understand the artist's intention as long as i enjoy what i see? If i'm befuddled, i'll simply mutter a neighborly hello and be on my way.

Hello fred :)
