Signs of Fall...after All!

Signs of Fall...after All!

As suffocatingly hot as it was last week, I was beginning to doubt my prediction that early August would bring signs of the end of summer's deathgrip. But here it is, this week's forecast for Floyd County, Virginia:

.TUESDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S.
.WEDNESDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S.
.WEDNESDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S.
.THURSDAY...MOSTLY CLEAR. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S.

Last week's "Praise of August" was the thermal equivalent of whistling in the graveyard, a projected hope, something to live for, a possible mirage. Today: find favorite flannel shirt.

Hope the cool comes to your place, too.

Now, if we could please sir, have some rain?
