GLORY BE! GLORY FOODS!

GLORY BE! GLORY FOODS!

No, I don't own stock in the company. Just really like the one product I have had from this strangely northern Southern foods company in Columbus Ohio.

Tonight, again, we had Mixed Greens...'with onions, garlic and spices in a savory sauce'. They state that there aim is to produce canned and frozen products that duplicate the fresh, natural taste of foods prepared with the flair of "down-home" Southern cooking.

To die for, I'm talkin' if you like Southern soul food. We were introduced to the greens by one of my wife's friends at work. We were told to 'pour off all the liquid' or even 'rinse them a few times' by the folks who thought the flavor too strong for 'white folk'. NOT! Just right, if you happen to hail from 'bama. We mix bland greens from the garden (Swiss Chard) with the seasoned greens. We have also added them to soup stock and stews.

My gracious, what a week. Fred recommends a television program, confesses to becoming Festus Haggen, and now pimping soul food. What is this world coming to!?

Update ~ September 2003. Due to the number of errant emails I get from readers thinking I am associated with Glory Foods, please read the following infomercial from Rachel who really is employed by Glory Foods and can answer your questions and receive your comments:

I would like to tell you how much I enjoy your products. My father who is 83 years old also loves your greens. Do you have any coupons available? My dad is on a fixed income and would love to purchase your products more often. His favorites are the black eyed peas and collards.

All the Glory products that my complete family has tried was great! We think that Old Glory is the best thing since slice bread. All the veggies are wonderful, I'm the only one that doesn't care for greens, but I've been told by the rest of the family that they too are great. They are a new product to our food store, we sure hope that Bilo keeps on selling all the "Old Glory" products. In the mean time Just keep on cooking and the inlaws, outlaws, and all the rest will keep on enjoying some mighty find grub. Yall take care, and have a great day!

Where can you buy glory product in Southfield MI?

I just became aware of the frozen food selection. I've been a fan of the company's other products - mixed greens, yams, black-eved peas - so when I so the frozen items I ran to the store immediately! I live in Northwest Indiana, near Gary. The frozen foods I found were made by Glory for Kroger. I can't compliment Glory enough. I have only tried the Chicken and Dumplings and the Mardi Gras Chicken and Rice so far but I have others in my freezer. Both were wonderful and I am telling all of my friends. Also, I am going to speak to managers at other grocery stores in my area to carry a larger variety of your products. I am too excited! You've made my life much easier! I must have the bagged sweet potatoes! They are not in this area yet but I'm going to get a campaign going so that they get here!

Congratulations on a wonderful product line and continued good luck!

P.S. I love the cornbread muffin mix too!

My family, friends and I enjoy your lines of Glory Foods products. But we do have only one complaint and that is the hot spices used in the collar, turnip, mustard and kale greens which is entirely to spicy.A lot of older people now have ulcers and other stomach problems like my husband who loves greens but can no longer use or eat a lot of hot spicy foods. Also my young daughter do not like spicy foods at all. Although she loves greens she will not eat Glory greens. Neither will any of the other children in my family or my friends families. They would if it wasn't so spicy they eat our greens when we cook it with no problems.

Myself, my family and friends for this very reasons has gone back to cleaning and cooking our own greens and seasoning them to taste without all the hot spices so that our families can enjoy greens again. In other words we no longer buy Glory Greens. We would hope that you could include in your line of Glory Foods non-spicy or less spicy greens.
We also hope that you would take this concern into immediate consideration so that my family and friends and I once again can start to enjoy Glory Foods.I live in Cleveland, Ohio but I have family and friends all over the United States
and those that are fortunate enough to have stores in their areas that sells Glory Foods have all stated the same thing. That their friends also have discontinued buying Glory greens as well. They do buy other Glory products just not the greens. Please help!!!! We love Glory Foods.

Sincerely,
Diane

i love all yo ur food and w as wondering if yo u had an y coupons?

Posted by: jennifer medina at June 18, 2003 06:16 PM

I found a coupon I reeived ata Home and Garden Show in New Orleans, Louisiana in April, 2003. Interersted in the products, I decided to look it up on web and was surprised to find all the products Glory Foods carries. At the show we were given a sample of the collard greens, blackeye beans and carrots.

They were soooooooo gooooood, it went out the next day and purchased some cans. The greens are very good and a life saver. (Heat & Eat).
Being a southern girl I was shocked at the taste .. they were seasoned to perfection. I know they will be better when I locate you hot sauce.

As stated earlier I was unaware of the number of products you carried. I live in New Orleans, Louisiana (will you carry the frozen products here?) On my next trip to Winn Dixie I will request they stock more assortments of your products.

Can't wait to try YOUR red beans, hot sauce, smoke turkey collards, and orka.

Could you please advise me of any stores in the Mobile Alabama area that carry your poducts--LOOOVe your Greens- haven't found any better anywhere, had some when I visited my daughter in N.C. made her send me a case.

Posted by: Bill Walz at August 27, 2003 11:37 AM

I enjoy your sweet potato casserole and a few other items by your company.

Tonight was our first time to try the canned green beans. We thought they were seasoned nicely and better than any other green bean in a can. BUT, THEY ARE SO SALTY!! So many people are told to watch the sodium---high blood pressure and other reasons. Please use less salt.*** Thanks for making these southern foods we can all enjoy. Do you still make the fried corn recipe in the frozen section?

PS Does the company actually take our comments for consideration? I hope they do.

Question for Old Glory Office

Does this site have to publish our email addresses? Many people would prefer keeping them for only Old Glory to see--not just anyone.

I just discovered Glory products at our Harris-Teeter @ 2 weeks ago, and having bought several products fell truly in love with them all. Today I went back to Harris-Teeter - and then another one -- and all I could find was the greens. My heart fell!!! Have you advertised these at all? I must have this product, and if you can tell me where to find them, I'll never shop anywhere else.
Please get them back.

Several months ago I was shopping at our local Wal mart SuperStore and purchased one of your products (Southern-Style Collard Greens). As like so many others who posted comments here " fell in love". My husband and I were having his family over for dinner and I decided to introduce them to your product even though I knew they weren't too fond of "greens". They absolutely went nuts, loved them~!! Now, Walmart has discontinued the "Glory" products from their store. I need to know HOW I can find them here in this small town in Oklahoma

I love Glory!!! Question, on some of the cans a couple of years ago (older label), there was a different recipe for sweet potato casserole. I have since misplaced it. Can anyone please forward it to me as it was such a big hit? Thanks.

We have introduced several friends to your products.
People can't believe that we have not gone to a lot of trouble preparing such tasty greens."
One lady prepared greens for an older couple
who would not think of greens from a can. They
honesty thought your greens were the best fresh
"right out of the garden", tasting products no
matter what cooking technique or method of
preparation.
How are you listed on the stock exchange?

One of the best things about moving to chicago is eating glory foods! I bought your product at jewel.
Many people complain that the greens are too spicy.
Stop complaining! try the fresh greens in the produce section. they're pre-cleaned and ready to cook. THEY'RE FRESH! just season to your own taste. i am from the san franciso bay area and was not raised on soul food, i love it now! your product is the best!
if glory made "sweet tea", i'd never cook again. thank you glory foods!

I am interested in purchasing the fresh vegetables offered by Glory Foods for my catering business. I am having a difficult time finding the products in my local markets here in Maryland.

Is there any way that I can have the products delivered to my home/business? Do you know where I can get cases of the vegetables?

I do prefer fresh than canned please. Thank-you for your time to this matter.

Rachel,
I have been a fan of Glory products for some time. When I recently complained about a purchase of black eyed peas I was impressed with your response of a refund and coupons. Today your gift basket of Glory products arrived and my wife and I were super impressed. We will be telling family and friends about your most generous response and will definitely continue to purchanse Glory products in fact we bought two items today. Thanks again. Jerry Goodrich

I have been enjoying your greens and cornbread for the last year - I have not had greens this good in years - I am from a small town in Alabama where good cooking is a way of life - Now that I am an adult I like to hold this tradition to be TRUE!!! For Thanksgiving I always prepare the Candied Yams by scratch but have been told that you carry Candied Yams/Sweet Potatoes - I have not seen them in this area (Atlanta) Could you please tell me where to find them - I would like to introduce them to my family this year during the holidays - Keep on bringing us the best in the world of SOUL FOOD!!! I dont care what no one else says - The food is WONDERFUL - Is chicken & dumplings something that you would make in the near future?....
