Who can give us a story to explain what’s going on in this image I took this morning a stone’s throw from my desk? Come on, country folk. You could take a similar picture in your back yard, too, this time of year.

Second guess: A plant exploding when you got too close — some sort of natural defense mechanism, complete with fire and deafening noise. (In which case, we will all pray for your speedy recovery.)

I agree. Down here we have them on all of our pecans…I have never seen a year with at least one limb covered.
