Slow Roads Tractor-fest

This was the scene on 221 Saturday afternoon.  This tractor caravan suddenly appeared over the crest of the highway (viewed first from Sweet Providence’s cool porch shade, see Doug’s picture) and went on for quite a while.

I thought at first how odd it was that all those farmers got the notion to go to the Feed ‘n Seed at the same time!

What it was was a “fun ride” and fund raiser, I think, but don’t know the details. More tractor-parade images on Flickr.

I was just glad I wasn’t in a hurry to get to Floyd from home just then. It would have taken an hour! I was also glad it wasn’t me baking in the afternoon heat bouncing along in the back of one of those vintage John Deeres.  Some folks even brought along the family dog for the ride.

And while in the rural department, be aware that in a few weeks, two events happen here on September 15: the Harvest Festival at the ball field off Rt 8 north of town; and the Taste of Floyd Event at Harvest moon. Details here. I’ll be peddling my brushes at Harvest Moon this year. Come on by.

Stumble it!

    Cute!

They drive one or two at a time on my roads all the time too.

I wish they were fundraising AND blocking traffic. It would have more meaning!!
